In 1939, US President announced Aug 19th as National Aviation Day for the recognition of Orville Wright's birthday. Orville Wright was born on Aug 19, 1871 and kept living for nine additional years until his demise in 1948.

It is established in 2009 by Korske Ara, an Australian photographer. Aug 19th was picked as the day of celebration of the fact that on this day French government purchased the patent of the daguerreotype -a technique for photography. World Photography Day is also known as the World Photo Day or National Photography Day.
